Central Region Schools and Colleges Sports Association Organises its 31st Regional Athletics Championship at the Cape Coast Stadium



The Central Region Schools and Colleges Sports Association under the distinguished chairmanship of Mr. Henry Arthur-Gyan (Heamaster of St. Augustine's College) organises her 31st Regional Athletics Championship in the Cape Coast Stadium today. The event was coordinated by the Central Regional P.E. Coordinator, Mr. Francis Yao Kumatia.

The participating Schools in the only girls' division are Wesley Girls Senior High School, Mfantsiman Girls Senior High, and Holy Child Girls Senior High School. In the only boys' division schools are Adisadel College, Mfantsipim Senior High, School, and St. Augustine's College. Amongst the schools participating in both divisions are Nyankumasi Ahenkro Senior High, Adankwaman Senior High, Assin Manso Senior High, Assin North Senior High Technical, Obiri Yeboah Senior High, Aggrey Memorial Senior High, National Senior High, Mankessim Senior High Technical,  Oguah Senior High Technical, Boamponsem Senior High, Dunkwa Senior High Technical, Aburaman Senior High, Winneba Senior High,  Apam Senior High, Swedru Senior High, Obrachire Senior High, Edinaman Senior High, Winton Senior High and Saltpond Senior High School. In all, Seventy-Eight (78) Second Cycle Institutions in the Central Region will be participating in Sprints, Middle and Long Distance races. They will also lock horns in the Jumps and Throws.

Officating in this important event are distinguished personalities drawn from the universities of Ghana, Regional, Municipal or District Education Offices, Sports Institutions and Tutors in the various Basic Schools in and out of the region. The event is being managed by Mr. Albert Kofi Bonney of Winneba. The starting of all track events is controlled by Mr. Michael Adjei Kwakye (Winneba), Philip Mintah (Fettehman SHS) and Aziz Tahiru (Apam SHS). The track judges are coordinated by Mr. Alex K. Azameti (CCTU), Time Keepers are also coordinated by Mr. L. M. K. Awudetsey of Cape Coast. The announcer is Mr. Godwin Anane of Komenda College of Education. Mr. John Arthur of Mfantsipim Senior High is the chief of the table recorders. The technical manager is Mr. Alexander Ekow Mankoe of Regional Education Office. 

In the opening address, the Central Regional Education Director, Mr. Emmanuel Essuman asked all students and.athletes to comport themselves and also put out their best performances and also keep the environment clean. 

Heads of the various second cycle institutions, past and present graced the occassion. Former Regional PE Coordinators and District Coordinators also joined in the day's events

In the girls' division, Mfantsiman Girls SHS teams out shined the other schools whiles Mfantsipim Boys also performed well in most of the events.

Day one ended successfully with many years records broken.
