Central Region 2023 Zone Five (5) Athletics Champions Will Fly

At last the 2023 Athletics Champions of Zone 5 Sports Association of Central Region, Assin North Senior High Technical School in the Assin North Constituency will be representing live in Cape Coast Stadium to compete against other schools in the region.

Information picked from my sources indicated that the School Management has called on the team to prepare and attend to the competition in the late hours of today 5th July, 2023. The distinguished athletes who have qualified for the Super Zonals are now filled with joy as their bus prepares to hit the road to cape coast stadium tomorrow.

In my earlier blog, dated 4th July, 2023 (https://physicaleducationmadeeasy.blogspot.com/2023/07/central-region-zone-five-5-champions.html) the situation was different but thank God now that these talents will not go waste but will have the chance and opportunity to compete at the regional level to prove themselves.

Assin North Senior High Technical in the Zone 5 Athletics Competition that just ended placed 3rd and 5th in 100m, 2nd in 800m, 2nd in 4 X 200m, 1st in Medley, 1st in Shot Put, 3rd in Discus, and 1st and 2nd in Triple Jump. All in the girls' division. In the boys' division,  the school team placed 1st in 100m, 200m, 4 X 100m, 4 X 200m and Medley. ANSTECH won the overall Gold leaving the Silver to Adankwaman SHS, Bronze to Assin Manso Senior High and Nyankumasi Ahenkro SHS taking the 4th place out of the eleven (11) schools that participated in the competition.

It is worth noting some of the challenges that comes with  the double track or shift system as far as school sports is concerned in the senior high schools in Ghana; Watch out for a dissertation on the Effects of the Double Track System on Competitive School Sports in coming blogs.

Wishing the Assin North Senior High Technical School athletics team all the best in this year's super zonals.
